Long time, no update

Wow, the last 6 months have FLOWN by! Life is so busy there doesn't seem to be much time left to update this but now that summer break is officially here I'm going to try to do better.

Tommy just finished the third grade. He will be in FOURTH grade next year. FOURTH grade. It doesn't matter how many times I say it, or read it, I still can't believe I will soon have a child in FOURTH grade. We all know that time flies but it's really applicable when talking about your child graduating from grade to grade in real school. He's still a sweet little guy, definitely caught in between being a child and an adolescent. He still wants to snuggle at night but he will NOT hold my hand in front of his friends under.any.circumstances. This makes me sad in a way but I knew he wouldn't stay my tiny little baby in onsies forever (although a mom can dream, right???). He did ok in school this year. I won't say it was his best or easiest one so far. We took him off his ADHD medication for the entire year. Which was a mistake but one I'm glad I made when he was 9 and not 12. He gained about 15lbs over the course of the year and I'm pretty sure he shot up 3in! The ADHD medication really stunted his growth during the 2 years he was on it. Unfortunately, he really needs it and will be going back on it this summer. Hopefully this is something he will outgrow and won't have adult ADHD. But we'll cross that road when we come to it. And there is something much more exciting about to happen in the Grieve family:

Tommy is taking his first plane ride ALONE in 13 days!

Talk about him not being my little baby anymore! lol He is flying back to Texas to visit with his Grandma & Grandpa, Uncle Matt & Aunt Jana, Uncle Scott, and other friends. He has a direct flight, which is the only way he could do this IMO. I'll update how that goes soon :)

Princess Avery has turned four since I last updated this. Which, in her words, means she is no longer a baby. HA. Sorry sweetheart, but only mommy gets to decide who gets to graduate from that position and when. I'm not ready to let go of that part of her life just yet. She is growing up way too fast. She's so much more mature than Tommy was at this age. And she is such a performer. It's so fun to watch her dance, or do gymnastics moves - I love that she is so confident she's willing to try anything. She will be in preschool one more year and then it's off to kindergarten ::choke, choke, sob, sob:::

All I can say is that I completely understand where Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar are coming from. I know my uterus couldn't support another 15 children but my heart would be willing to make it try!!

Avery still climbs in bed with me in the morning just to snuggle. Her day doesn't start off right if she hasn't had adequate time touching my...

Arm.

I'm sure those of you who know about her once upon a time obsession with my boobs weren't expecting that :) I'm not even sure when the love affair with my boobs ended but I'm just glad it did. I didn't believe she would go to college wanting to touching them but it did make for some embarrassing moments.

Cole is still Cole. My wild child, always looking for a way to push my buttons. He is now two and completely in the throws of the terrible two's. That might even be putting it mildly. He is also such a daddy's boy STILL. If daddy is around mommy is chopped liver. Which, after two other children that only wanted mommy, I'm really not complaining!

He was evaluated by Baby Net (an early intervention program in SC) for his speech and I was informed today that he will be accepted into the program. I was afraid he was going to be turned down because the only area he was slower in was communication. I found out today that he just BARELY got in - the cut-off was a 13, he scored a 13. lol Thank you God! The reason I'm so excited is because he will have free speech therapy until he is three. Plus, someone will come into the home on a weekly basis to work with him as well.

So that's that.
