Tommy is having a sleepover tonight with some friends for his birthday.
But nope...this is not his first sleepover.
He is nine after all :)
But one of Tommy's friends has two sisters who just happen to be friends with Avery.
So their mom graciously offered to have Avery over to their house while their brother spent the night here.
So my little girl is having her first sleepover at a friends house tonight.
You should have seen the look on her face when I told her today where she was going...she was grinning from ear to ear and could not quit giggling!
When they got here, Avery put her backpack on, grabbed three of her favorite stuffed animals and her empty barbie suitcase (why, I have NO idea but she was very insistant!).
She was so excited that I had to remind her to say bye to us...
It always amazes me to see how independent and confident she has become. I couldn't even leave the house without her until she was around 7-8 months old because she would lose it if I wasn't within arms reach - even if it was with her daddy.
I used to joke that she would be my hip baby until she left for college.
When she started preschool last year I was positive they would gently tell me that it wasn't working out and that maybe it might be better to wait a year.
But within a month the baby who thought she was being deserted if left behind would climb down out of her carseat and into the arms of whoever was working carpool that morning.
I was thrilled because I knew it meant that she was growing a bit more sure of herself.
She has just come such a long way so it shouldn't shock me that she sauntered out of the house like she does this everyday.
And it's not like she's my first child to go to a sleepover.
It's just so much fun to see her so happy and excited about doing it!
I love that little munchkin :)
**UPDATE**
Just as I was getting ready to send this long brag on how big my little girl has gotten the phone rang, and it was my friend telling me that Avery was scared.
Of COURSE it was!
I got on the phone with her and she said in her best trying to be brave voice "I just miss you mommy."
:::sound of my heart breaking:::
I miss you too. But don't you want to stay??
At this point she is wimpering and trying not to completely cry. She says "mommy, I want to sleep in my own bed."
So I tell her that we're one our way to get her and bring her home.
So much for that new milestone! lol

Awwww. The only place Mace has ever slept over is my mother's. He's done it a handful of times. The last time, just a few weeks ago I got a similar phone call. I trucked out in the middle of the night to bring home my sweet boy. I have no problem having him want to be home with mommy and daddy, I know one day he'll have to be forced to be in the same room with us LOL
Such a sweet story. I wish Meg had cried and decided that she wanted to come home from her first sleep over!
Awwww, she's so sweet. She'll have plenty of other chances for sleep overs.
So cute! My daughter did the same thing. I think when she was 8 she actually stayed all night : )
Have a great New Years! Be Safe!
